Excitability may occur.

I really wanted to write a goodbye blog before we left Oregon, talking about the last 6 years in Oregon and all of the things and people I will miss, but with everything going on I never got the chance. So much has happened in the last 48 hours that I hardly feel like I can reproduce those goodbyes, so I won't, but rather will shout out a big thank you to Oregon for treating us well and an even bigger thank you to our friends for loving us and being there for us. We appreciate you all! Now onto the present....

We arrived in Brussels about 30 hours ago. In case you're wondering, the trip here was everything I thought it would be and more. And not in a good way. :> Our plane trip and airport experiences alone are enough for 6 or 7 really good blogs and someday if I'm lacking in blog material I will share some of them. My only notes here are to say that Benadryl DOES work to knock your kids out. On the back of the bottle it gave two separate warnings: "May cause drowsiness" and "Excitability may occur." The first was true for my kids; however, a warning should also include "may cause such deep sleep that your children may not be able to control their bodily functions," which was also true for my kids.

Another note for you future travelers is that you should only take the bare minimum luggage as carry-on with you to Europe. Both the Amsterdam and Brussels airports were so large that we literally walked miles through corridors, up and down stairs, through narrow walkways, all the while hauling our massive amounts of carry-ons. I'm sure we looked like an overpacked American family, and we were!

We are slowly adjusting to the time change. Everyone, including Charlotte, only got about 3 hours of sleep on the trip over and then we were able to keep the kids up all day yesterday. Charlotte zonked out about 5:30pm last night and the rest of us went to sleep about 7pm. The boys were up by midnight, hyped up and ready to play. It took the combined efforts of both Ryan and me and the next 4 hours to get the boys back to sleep and then they slept until noon. Charlotte on the other hand slept un-interrupted from 5:30pm until 11:30am the next morning. If I ever thought it was impossible to sleep 18 hours straight, Charlotte proved me wrong. We are planning on keeping everyone up until 10 or 11 tonight and hoping the boys (and us!) sleep through the night tonight. If we get everyone up at a normal wake-up time in the morning hopefully we will be back on track.

With as many different experiences as we have been having, I'm hoping to blog everyday. I definitely have the material, it will be a matter of time - which at this point I have plenty. Thanks for tuning in! Au revior!

Phew! It's a relief to hear you made it okay and seem to be adjusting well to the time change. I was thinking about your guys on Wednesday/Thursday trying to imagine being on an airplane with 3 kids.

Sounds like you all made it there without any huge catastophes. Tell me the truth, did Landon get lost, at least once? Oh and Charlotte, what a trooper. Well, because we never officially said goodbye, I think it's only fitting that you contact me when you get settled in. I definitely want to hear more. I can't wait to see pictures :).

You're there!! Hurray...you made it!!! It just seems unreal!! We were sooooo bummed when your going away party was changed to Tuesday....obviously we weren't able to come. Then, I was going to call...but, of course that didn't work out. So now...I'm just thinking you didn't leave yet! How sad is that?? I'm so glad you posted and gave us an update. Sounds like quite an experience...brings back horrid memories of when I flew by MYSELF with a 3year old and an 18 month old to Poland....what was I thinking??? We love you guys! You are already missed!!

Hi Ryan and Lisa, this is Nana. WOW, good job Lisa for blogging so soon after a tramatic experience! I am at Tricia's house. We were curious to see if you had blogged yet. You are a true TROOPER! I can't wait to get the details of your trip over the phone. I am sure it will be a marathon phone call. I would love to hear what Braydon and Landon have to say about your adventure. Have they cried to go HOME yet? Keep taking care of each other and remember you are ALL MUCH LOVED!

I had wondered a lot how your flight had gone and all the YW were so sad that you were already gone! I am glad to see you are up and running. The washers are tiny, but I never had a dryer in Spain, so you definitely one up me there.
Good luck! We miss you :)
