You know gas prices are getting bad when you wait in line at Costco for 25 minutes for gas at $3.53. I have noticed the steady incline in gas prices, but I have to say it's getting a little ridiculous. I dropped Brayden off at preschool this morning and on the way home noticed that gas was $3.70 at most stations I passed. Knowing I had to drive by Costco anyway, I thought I would just fill up there. When I pulled in, there were 10 gas lanes, each with 6-7 cars waiting. I guess everyone else noticed the $3.70 elsewhere too! All of this expensive gas led me to reminisce on the "good ol' days" when I could fill my car up for $15. Even two years ago when we bought my current car I could fill it up for less than $40. Today I spent $60! I'm not even going to talk about our soaring utility bills. So, there's my little rant for today. If you see me walking down the street pushing my jogging stroller, miles from home hauling groceries or some other item, don't ask questions, just know that I decided $60 was too much to be paying at the pump and I wanted to delay the painful process of doing so again as long as possible.

i know it is so crazy huh! every time i'm at costo i mean to take a picture and blog about it but i keep forgetting. california's even worse though- 3.99 at regular places and 3.70ish at costco! yuck!
Agreed! When I explained to my students last week that when I was their age I drove a truck and could fill it up for around $1 a gallon, no more than $1.20, they replied with "man you are old!" Gotta love it! :) With the current gas prices our late night stringing in high school may have been somewhat restricted! :)
too true! although I am at the end of pregnancy I think I will be walking from now on too! if you feel sorry for me don't offer to help unless you have some money to give me for gas (just kidding).
We are feeling your pain. I have never been one to think that much about it but honestly I dont want to see it cost $4 on Memorial Day. I just bought a Mazda 5 for my family car and Jeff put down money to buy a natural gas Honda Civic that will be here in July. The thing is now we need to buy a six seater used truck with 4 wheel drive so we can make it up the moutain home in the winter. Kind of crazy that we need to own three cars for two driver because of the cost of gas. My sister inlaw was telling me how much it cost to fill her suburban and with how much I go it would be a mortgage in gas each month to own a vehicle that big. I am a bit sad I have to drive a mommy mobil though. When my kids are raised I'll have to get a cute car.

Thank goodness for company cars and free gas :) I'm sure they will get smart and stop it at some point but for now we love it.. Call if you need a ride.
I know what you mean!! It's so expensive. It's almost not worth it, unless you have to go really far... and then it costs even more. You just can't win.
Amen sister!!! I'm wondering what things are like in Belgium.....can't wait for you to let us know :) Until then be grateful you have a stroller. I have to just carry groceries the entire time in my hands....make sure I'm balanced before I leave the store :)
Ha ha, I totally agree! I remember Filling up my car for $10 six years ago. I love reading your blogs!
